Under the direction of the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission, the Department of Land Use and Planning works with citizens, developers, surveyors, real estate agents, auctioneers, and attorneys, as well as the Carroll County Building Official’s Office and the Carroll County Health Department, to insure that land development occurs in compliance with all pertinent ordinances. The office is located in the Carroll County Governmental Center, Room B140A, and is open 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
SUBDIVISIONS
Any division of a lot or parcel of land is considered to be a subdivision and the subdivider must comply with the regulations found in the Subdivision of Land ordinance. All subdivisions must have a plat prepared in accordance with the ordinance and the plat must be approved by the Subdivision Agent or the Planning Commission prior to recording in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. No owner or agent of the owner of any parcel of land located in a proposed subdivision shall transfer or sell such parcel before a plat of the proposed subdivision has been approved by the Subdivision Agent or the Planning Commission and the approved plat has been recorded in the Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. All plats to be considered by the Planning Commission must be delivered to the Department of Land Use and Planning 14 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.
MOBILE HOME PARKS
An area or tract of land designed, constructed, and equipped to accommodate two (2) or more mobile homes is a Mobile Home Park. The developer of any mobile home park must comply with the Mobile Home Ordinance of Carroll County.
