Full-Time Firefighter/EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic (Preferred)

Carroll County Fire Rescue has a full-time position for a Firefighter/EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic.

General Definition of Work:
Performs intermediate skilled technical work responding to fires and emergency medical service calls, performing fire suppression, emergency medical response and related duties, maintaining station and equipment, participating in continuing training, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Emergency Medical Services Lieutenant.  Occasional supervision is exercised over subordinate shift personnel in the absence of the Emergency Medical Services Lieutenant.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in emergency services including experience as a firefighter and emergency medical technician at the intermediate level, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements:
Possession of Emergency Medical Technician-I, Paramedic, CPR Instructor and Firefighter I certifications.
Possession of or ability to acquire certification as a Firefighter II within one year of employment.
Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Assistant Victim Witness Program Director

Applications will be accepted for part-time employment with Carroll County for the position of Assistant Victim Witness Program Director

General Definition of Work
Performs administrative work assisting the Victim Witness Program Director with providing direct services to victims of crimes, ensuring that victims are treated with dignity and respect throughout the criminal justice process, assisting victims in obtaining help with unpaid medical bills, calculating and reporting the status of clients served, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the direction of the Victim Witness Program Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of interviewing techniques and human behavior; knowledge of the practices and techniques involved in counseling and crisis intervention; knowledge of criminal justice system; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to prepare concise written reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local law enforcement officials, victims of crime, associates, witnesses and the general public.

Education and Experience
Associate’s degree with coursework in criminal justice, or related field and minimal experience working in or with the court system, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
