General Description of Work
Performs difficult and complex work in directing the daily operations, processes and management of Personal Property customer service units.  Some of the duties of this position include:  providing customer service, providing assistance and information related to personal property, business personal property, property assessments, state income tax returns, tax laws/requirements.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent with course work in accounting, property assessment or related field and some experience in real or personal property work.

Applications will be accepted for the position of Part-Time/Seasonal Groundskeeper.

The Groundskeeper operates and performs routine maintenance on a variety of mowing, weed trimming and other landscaping equipment in order to mow County property weekly as well as performs various grounds maintenance tasks, such as edging grass and landscaped areas, cutting brush/tree limbs, picking up and disposing of tree limbs, trimming and pruning shrubs and hedges, planting flowers, applying and spreading mulch, fertilizer and other ground materials, spreading seed, raking and blowing leaves and picking up debris.  Must be familiar with the operation of zero turn and walk behind mowing equipment and have the ability to mow in steep and precarious places. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the safe use, operation and preventive maintenance of the equipment to which assigned; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; ability to understand and follow specific oral instruction; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to lift heavy articles; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

The City of Galax is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Animal Shelter Supervisor at the Galax-Carroll-Grayson Animal Shelter.  The successful candidate’s duties include planning, overseeing and participating in animal shelter operations; utilize social media and other resources to advertise and promote the adoption of the animals; recruits and develops relationships with licensed animal rescue organizations to advance the placement of animals; overseeing animal control operations, preparing and maintaining files and records.  Possession of, or ability to obtain, Animal Control Officer, euthanasia, bite stick, pepper spray and firearms certifications, DEA drug license, and possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
