Sam Dickson - Supervisor-at-Large -

  • 2008 Chairman of the Board
  • 62 years old and has lived in the area for 60 of those years with the last 31 years in the Pipers Gap section of Carroll County
  • Interests are in my family and church - my wife of 43 years, Rachel, owns and operates Merle Norman Cosmetics in Galax. My daughter, Rhonda, lives in SC and works for the North Myrtle Beach Presbyterian Church while her husband, Allen, works at The Carolina Opry. They have two children. My son, Joey, and I own The Homeplace of Va. Inc. in Carroll County across from Lowe’s Building Supply. We have built over 100 houses in 6 years and probably half of them have been in Carroll County. Joey and his wife Misty have 3 children.
  • Currently attend the First Assembly of God in Galax where I serve as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent
  • Elected Supervisor in 1999 and served on the Board from 2000 - 2003
  • Graduated from Fries High School in 1963
  • Attended Danville Technical Institute for 2 years and have taken numerous classes form VA Tech and UVA over the past 35 years
  • Served on several boards including CWC, Crossroads, Solid Waste Authority, Peaks of Virginia, Rooftop, and others
  • Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in 2002
  • Taught School for 31 years at CCHS and drove a school bus for 35 years
  • Has grown Fraser Fir Christmas trees for several years and enjoy working in them when time allows
  • Enjoy golf- when time allows-but golf seems to take a back seat to most other interests.

David V. Hutchins - Sulphur Springs District -

Andrew “Andy” Jackson - Laurel Fork District -

  • Married to Carol Hawks Jackson for 41 years
  • Have Three Children - Michael Jackson who works as Store Remodeling Manager for Wal-Mart, Inc., Bentonville, Arkansas, Tammie Jackson who works for Southland Trucking in Boone, NC and Tammie is a Gulf War Veteran & widow, and Jennifer L. Jackson who is Assistant Principal at Belmont Central Middle School in Gastonia, NC.
